This one goes out to all of the amazingly innovative educators and educational institutions that strive tirelessly to provide students with an active educational experience to advance learning.

Your Hyperspace team appreciates you, and it’s for that reason that we don’t want you to miss out on the chance to apply for an impressive grant, courtesy of Steelcase Education. For the second consecutive year, Steelcase Education is accepting applications for their Active Learning Center (ALC) Grant, a program that provides active learning spaces to schools across the United States, Canada and Mexico.

The Prize

Steelcase Education will award up to 15 schools with a new classroom, valued at $62,000. Each Active Learning Center (ALC) Grant covers the furniture, design, installation, integrated technology and post-occupancy measurement tool for one of four classroom types, each of which is designed for 24-32 students. Winners will also receive training from Steelcase leaders on best practices for implementing their new technology and furniture and be invited to participate in a community with fellow grant recipients to continue sharing growing insights.

How Will A Winner Be Selected?

Selections will be made based on the following criteria:

  • Commitment to active learning strategies
  • Ability to successfully evaluate/measure student success
  • Proposed strategy for educating the broader education community with newly acquired insights

Potential grantees will be asked to detail the teaching method they plan to implement while utilizing their new active learning space and describe how they foresee it positively impacting both teaching and learning.

If you are employed at an educational institution that deserves to be recognized for teaching innovation or simply know of a local school that would appreciate the opportunity to apply for this Active Learning Center Grant from Steelcase Education, view the instructions on how to apply now.
